Frequently asked questions

How is SOCSO calculated?
SOCSO is not a live percentage. PERKESO gazettes a table of wage bands, each with a fixed employee and employer amount, and the wage is matched to its band. Wages above the RM6,000 ceiling pay the top band amount.
Which SOCSO category applies?
Category 1 covers employees under 60 and has both employee and employer contributions. Category 2 covers employees aged 60 and over, and those first registered at 55 or older with no prior contributions; only the employer contributes. The calculator picks the category from the age you enter.
What is Lindung 24 Jam (SKBBK)?
A separate employee-only PERKESO contribution that starts with June 2026 wages and uses the same wage bands as SOCSO. It is compulsory for foreign workers and voluntary for Malaysian citizens, so tick the opt-in box for a citizen who has elected to contribute.
Is SOCSO charged on a bonus?
No. Bonuses are excluded from wages for SOCSO, so the contribution is based on the regular monthly salary only.
